A New Day 1 was a live launch event for Base, Coinbase’s on-chain platform. Developed in collaboration with CYCYMYMY for Coinbase, the project translated Base’s identity into a motion system that connected keynote screens, LED installations, and spatial graphics. The result is a unified visual language that operates consistently across physical and digital environments.
Design System
The visual system is built on Base’s modular grid, halftone textures, and pixel-based identity. These elements establish a scalable structure across keynote content, LED walls, and environmental displays. The system maintains clarity, legibility, and consistency across varying screen sizes and lighting conditions.
Development / Expansion
The system expands into a broader set of visual expressions through pattern variations, dynamic compositions, and adaptive color treatments.
AI-generated imagery serves as a foundational layer, which is then transformed into structured patterns and modular visual assets. This approach allows the system to scale consistently across different formats while maintaining a unified visual language.
Procedural patterns were developed using Cavalry and TouchDesigner, enabling both pre-rendered and real-time outputs. Through TouchDesigner, the system can also operate as a live visual environment, generating and adapting visuals in real time while preserving the same rhythm, density, and underlying logic.
Motion Language
Motion operates within a unified visual vocabulary across all touchpoints. Transitions, looping patterns, and typographic moments are structured to feel consistent and intentional. This allows the visuals to function as a cohesive system rather than a collection of separate assets.
